Through its Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) fund, The City of Marfa is pleased to award partnership grants to qualifying events and activities.

GRANT APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION: 
 

1. Historic Restoration & Preservation Grants

Historic Restoration and Preservation Grants are awarded twice annually to organizations that directly promote tourism and the hotel and convention industry in Marfa. In accordance with state law, this grant is restricted to enhancing historical restoration and preservation projects and activities or to advertising, soliciting, and promoting preserved historic sites or museums to attract tourists and hotel guests.  Texas law does not limit such funding to structures that are owned by a public or nonprofit entity, or to whether the project is listed on a historic registry, but the City may choose to impose such limitations.

2. Advertising Reimbursement Grant

Advertising Grants are awarded quarterly to organizations for advertising, solicitations and promotions that directly promote tourism and the hotel and convention industry in Marfa. In accordance with state law, this grant is restricted to advertising and promotion to attract tourists to the municipality or its vicinity. An organization can demonstrate impact by showing that hotel nights are booked due to their activity or that hotel guests attended their events.

3. Arts & Culture Grants

Arts & Culture Grants are awarded twice annually to organizations that directly promote tourism and the hotel and convention industry in Marfa. In accordance with state law, this grant is restricted to the encouragement, promotion, improvement, and application of the arts that makes direct impact on the tourism and the hotel/convention industry.

An art facility or event can demonstrate impact by showing that hotel nights are booked due to their activity or that hotel guests attended their arts event. Eligible forms of art include all types of instrumental and vocal music, dance, drama, folk art, creative writing, architecture, design and allied fields, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic and craft arts, film, video, radio, television, sound recording, and other arts related to the presentation, performance, execution, and exhibition of these art forms.
