The City of Marfa owns and operates the Marfa municipal gas distribution system as part of the Marfa Gas Department. The Natural Gas Department manages daily operations, ensuring that safeguards and standard operating procedures and policies are followed. The department is committed to operating and maintaining a safe and reliable system in full compliance with the regulations established by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and the Texas Railroad Commission (TRRC). Marfa’s Natural Gas Department is currently replacing its steel gas lines with polyfusion lines.
